Together with his companion Aleksej Iskos the Copenhagen based designer Boris Berlin developed this new armchair made of moulded felt for the Swedish manufacturer Blå Station. We met him at this year’s Stockholm Furniture Fair and talked about the piece and the design approach it is based on. Enjoy!
"Let the materials behave as they want": 'Spook' by Iskos - Berlin for Blå Station
The newly founded designer duo Iskos – Berlin, consisting of the Danish designers Boris Berlin and Aleksej Iskos, realised this armchair for the Swedish manufacturer Blå Station. We all remember the neat ‘Nobody’ chair Boris Berlin / Komplot created for HAY. ‘Spook’ is made with the use of the same material and technique – moulded polyester felt – characterised by a completely different approach, though.
Every autumn the Cabinetmaker’s Autumn Exhibition takes place in Copenhagen, this year at the beautiful Ordrupgaard museum in the north of Copenhagen. The exhibition is an initiative of 72 furniture manufacturers and designers who together present their newest developements and experiments. Here some images of this year’s projects.
The Japanese designer Tomoyuki Matsuoka designed this family of simple and graphical chairs for the Swedish manufacturer Blå Station. ‘Latte’ consists of a lacquered tubular steel frame and a seating made from laser-cut sheet metal. Anyway it is also availabe with an upholstered seat pad and therefore suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Known for their colourful collection Blå Station also developed a beautiful colour scheme for ‘Latte’.
'Antoinette' seating/room-divider by Cate & Nelson for Bla Station
Continuing the trend in furniture design for pieces that shield their users from view, while providing a certain acoustic benefit, Bla Station have launched a new seat/room-divider, designed by Cate & Nelson and premiered at last month’s Stockholm Furniture Fair.

Consisting of a frame of laquered steel, covered with a mesh fabric, ‘Antoinette’ affords the sitter or sitters a sense of privacy, particularly when used in a contract context. The upholstered seat is available in either leather or fabric, and can be removed for storage.

The Berlin based designers osko+deichmann originally designed their cantilever straw chair in occasion of last year’s 90th Bauhaus anniversary. It was an homage to the Marcel Breuer classic.
The Swedish manufacturer Blå Station who produces also osko+deichmann’s sofa ‘Pebble’ was fascinated by the rather rough processing the designers used – instead of bending the metal tube smoothly, they edged it.

In collaboration with Blå Station osko+deichmann created a stackable chair, which is adapted for outdoor use as well. It was presented at this year’s Stockholm Furniture Fair for the first time.
