'offcut' by Edwards Moore
The Melbourne based architecture and design practice Edwards Moore created this barstool made from reclaimed timber off-cuts compressed by a tension belt. The perfectly even top, finished with linseed oil putty and wax, builds a contrast to the rough and unregular composition. ‘offcut’ was designed as part of this year’s currently ongoing State of Design Festival in Melbourne.

'Alodia' by Todd Bracher for Cappellini
The Italian manufacturer Cappellini recently unveiled the new stool ‘ALODIA’ by the New York based designer Todd Bracher. The minimalist cantilever is made from metal tube and steel plate, seat cut by laser and black plastic feet. It comes in two heigths in matt varnished in white, anthracite, mustard, green and avio blue colours.

'4O4 H' bar stool by Stefan Diez for Thonet
Stefan Diez’s ‘404 H’ bar stool for Thonet has received a coveted iF gold award. At today’s awards ceremony in Hanover, the piece was praised for its ‘honest design and perfect proportions’.

Beyond its elegant form, the stool’s seat, which is reminiscent of a saddle, is designed to give slightly when the user sits on it. The 50 iF gold award winners represent 39 countries and were selected from a total of almost 2,500 entries. The awards scheme has been running for over 50 years.

'Albert' by Massproductions
The Stockholm based young label Massproductions presented this new series of solid stools at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. The British designer Chris Martin found inspiration in traditional pub stools when he created the robust structure for ‘Albert’.

'Morph' barstool by Zeitraum
At this year’s imm cologne the German manufacturer Zeitraum presents this new solid wooden barstool designed by the German designers Formstelle. It was developed in addition to the ‘Morph’ series Zeitraum presented last year for the first time.

'404 H', reminiscent of the historic Thonet bentwood models
At this year´s Milan fair Thonet presented the three-legged 404 H barstool by Stefan Diez with its distinctive, saddle-like seat. Like the previous modell, the 404 chair, the barstool is also made of laminated wood only. Thanks to the smart construction, no screws or other materials needed to be used.
The chairs are available in natural wood or stained in various colours.
