When Berlin-based designer Joa Herrenknecht set out to design her first sofa she wanted it be flexible, a single modular object that could function as a daybed, sofa, or guest bed if and when required.
The outcome, Sushi Sofa, is a daybed and sofa with modular arm-/ backrests on a wooden tray-like base. “Because of its easy modular use, it is named after the simple delicate dish ‘Sushi’ which traditionally comes on a tray.” says Herrenknecht.
“I wanted it to be easy to assemble and flexible for change – the length of the sitting mattress thus is standard sized (2m x 90cm) – to accommodate your surprise guest in the most comfortable manner. The arm and back rests can be altered in a very flexible manner, allowing you freedom and comfort.”
Sushi is part of Herrenknecht’s new Studio Collection: FLOW presented at Salone Satellite, 2014.
