If you had a clean-out at the end of the year – don’t discard the wooden handels of your household and garden tools, they could be turned into STEEL!
The STEEL chair by designer Reinier de Jong is made from handles of brooms, rakes, shovels etc.
Dutch Craftsmen work the collected handles to turn them into a folding chair. New, clean wood becomes visible at the places where the wood is cut. The cut-outs form a natural, concave shape in the back rest and the seat.
If you don’t have any handles to contribute, another version of the chair is available which is made of new, white handles.
Handles can be donated either for your own chair, or for charity: for each usable meter of old handles 1 Euro will be donated.
