The Australian designers Glenn and Justin Lamont from LifeSpaceJourney created this dining table and stools which are composed of spun metal seats/table tops and round, solid wooden legs. Inspired from the simple uncluttered perspective of a child the designer brothers were driven by a desire to utilize simple age old local trades.
Here is what the designers explain:
“We wanted to step away from computerized technology and get back to affordable hand made pieces that support some of the last remaining skilled trades people in our community. each piece is entirely hand made from the metal spinning, the welding and the wood turning.
there is an honest robust nature to the pieces that is sadly lacking in much of the affordable furniture in 2010.
There is a desire in the work of LifeSpaceJourney to show the consumer an alternative to mass produced replicas and rip offs flooding the worlds market place, be it from cheap poorly designed housing to furniture and lighting. There is much to be said for a return to the local butcher, baker and candle stick maker.”
