A real gem during this year’s London Design Festival was a small, but perfectly formed, exhibition at the Rocket gallery on Shoreditch High Street, entitled ‘Revolt | Reform | Result’.
It’s the first time the post-war furniture of Dutch designers Friso Kramer, Wim Rietveld, Martin Visser, Cees Braakman and Rudolf Wolf has been the focus of a show in the British capital. With an emphasis on formal reduction, but with colour still playing a key role, the legacy of Gerrit Rietveld is clearly expressed in the pieces on display. Well worth a visit.
