Iina Vuorivirta’s polished brass ‘Nomad’ mirrors contain angles that reflect things that aren’t directly in front of them.
“Mirrors have provided us with an image of ourselves.” says Vuorivirta. “They have raised our curiosity and made us question our identity. Their nature, deceiving and ambiguous, has given us a tool for self-awareness.”
“Through the polished brass surfaces I want to pay attention to the spaces forgotten or taken for granted, creating a visual and tangible evidence of belonging – To make possible a poetic coexistence of imagination and realism.”
Nomad was shown at the Negative Space Exhibition during Stockholm Design Week 2013.
