Inspired by the flexibility of use and reduced proportions of serving trays, the Venetian designer Luca Nichetto has developed this collection of small, elongated solid-wood tables for the Italian furniture manufacturer Cassina. Named after ‘a phonetic transposition of the Japanese word for “tray”’, ‘Torei’ can be arranged and grouped in multiple combinations or used individually, according to need. The elegant and multifunctional system was presented earlier last month during the Salone del Mobile fair.
More about ‘Torei’:
‘The name Torei is a phonetic transposition of the Japanese word for “tray”. The small tables of the Torei collection grew out of the idea of a serving tray’s small dimensions and flexible use, and their legs provide just the right height for being placed alongside a sofa or an armchair. The Torei line offers two table sizes with respect to both length and height. As a result, the different tables can be used on combination with one another to create ensembles or be used individually in conjunction with a sofa as a coffee table or end table in response to the needs of the user’s living room.’
