'Volume' one-seater sofa by Outofstock Design for Foundry

The international design collective Outofstock has created this ‘Volume’ series of top-heavy sofas and a console, which was presented as part of Singapore-based label Foundry’s exhibition at this year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile.

The designers behind Outofstock Design quote 'the observation of juxtaposition between solid suspended volumes and thin architectural elements' as the source of inspiration which led to the creation of the 'Volume' series.

Inspired by ‘the beauty of intriguing heavy elements lifted magically from the ground’ in contemporary architecture, the ‘Volume’ series explores the idea of contrastingly top-heavy designs supported by proportionally fine bases, which come in a form of simple, narrow ash or walnut legs.
