On the occasion of this year’s London Design Week, the new British manufacturer Another Country will launch its first collection of contemporary craft furniture. Owned by Paul de Zwart, the founding publisher of Wallpaper* magazine, Another Country focuses on archetypal design quality, using familiar and unpretentious forms of traditional woodwork.
All the pieces in the collection are consistent in their design: tops with rounded bottom edge and straight top and legs that are mounted at the same angle to the horizontal plane. Solid European oak is used for each piece, with oil wax as a finish. With the exception of the dining table, the tops and the legs have been joined using an old technique that requires precise handcraft. Everything is produced in a family-run workshop in Dorset, England.
Another Country will be on show at The Tramshed from September 18 to 26 introducing a new occasional/dining chair designed by Mathias Hahn and a kitchen stool as well as the first accessories range.
