The Design Guild Mark Awards, now in its sixth year, “mark and reward the work of the finest designers working in Britain and the best of British designers working abroad” according to their UK-based patron, the Furniture Makers Company. Among 2013’s recipients is the Juno chair by James Irvine for Italian design brand Arper. Design Guild Marks reward excellence specifically in the design of furniture in volume production.
“With Juno, the plastic chair has come of age.” says Arper. “Cast in a single form, it has fluid lines and a light profile, in silhouette and weight. It enjoys all the benefits of simplicity and uniformity but with a clever twist.”
“Juno brings efficiency and customisation together in unique combination. Made for both residential and contract use, indoors and out, Juno is a single-shot moulded plastic chair available in four forms: solid back and open back, both with and without arm rests. All forms are available in six colours: white, black, sand, anthracite, orange, yellow. Seat and back rests can be finished in upholstered pads. All variations are stackable to allow for large-scale use and storage.”
The Design Guild Mark will have an exclusive feature stand showing awarded products at 100% Design at Earls Court during the London Design Festival, September 18th to 21st, 2013.
