This year’s Greenhouse – the young designer’s exhibition during the Stockholm Furniture Fair – had again a lot to offer. One of the most beautiful exhibitions was the shared booth of the German designers from halloessen and the Gothenburg based designer trio Kontor Kontur – an artful interplay of graphical decoration, delicate textile design and sophisticated furniture and accessories.
‘Beam’ by halloessen is a table and working lamp composed of two – one steady and one adjustable – light sources.
“Poki is a drawer furniture that combines stiff wood with cosy textile to a flexible, playfull and functional storage space. Inspired by old danish sewing tables, wallmounted or with legs, Poki is a perfect supplementary element for your bedroom, lounge or vestibule.”
“Six needle-felt elements interwoven to form a carpet with a cubical pattern. A charming light/dark contrast with the impact of an illusionary landscape, a volcano, a mountain, a little house, or whatever you might see…”
Kontor Kontur about their textiles at Greenhouse:
“Abstract and figurative melting together. Four textile panels that form an ensemble. Different shades of gray. Pleats and tailored chaos. Breaks, structures, surfaces, lines and shades create depth and form. A 2×2 cm grid is the foundation in the textiles, squares turn into lines. Patterns that are growing. In a collaboration with Hallo Essen we have during the winter had an idea correspondence via electronic post. On the Stockholm Furniture Fair we finally gathered to see how our parts worked together.”
