New York design gallery Espasso is presenting works by Brazilian designer Zanini de Zanine alongside pieces by his father, seminal designer José Zanine Caldas, the first time their furniture will be showcased together.
“Zanini De Zanine’s approach to design continues his father José Zanine Caldas’ legacy of creating masterfully designed pieces with ingenuity and originality, while also allowing him to become a recognized craftsman in his own right.” says Espasso owner and curator Carlos Junqueira.
Coinciding with the exhibit opening is the release of two new pieces by Zanini, the Espasso Armchair and Escoras candle holder. In addition three works – Anil, Tera and Tiss – will be shown for the first time outside of Brazil. Zanini’s works often feature reclaimed Brazilian woods or metals, acrylic and plastic that have been transformed by industrial methods into unique pieces. The exhibit will also feature many original works by his father José, along with re-editions.
The exhibition opens to the public on September 27 and will be on view until October 12, 2013.
