A series of large-scale standing mirrors by Norwegian-born, London-based designers Amy Hunting and Oscar Narud will get their own exhibition after being featured prominently at the recent Fashion Scandinavia show during London Fashion Week.
Hunting & Narud were the exhibition designers for Fashion Scandinavia 2013 at Somerset House during London Fashion Week
Gallery Libby Sellers will be presenting the series of freestanding forms made of copper, mild steel and stone. “Given the geneses of the series, Hunting and Narud were keen to ensure their designs paid homage to Norway’s rich cultural and topographical heritage.” says Gallery Libby Sellers. “The material choices allude to the country’s strong mining credentials – ore extraction and copper smelting were the starting point for a major modern Norwegian industry, with big mines operating in the 18th and 19th centuries, while steel and stone remain important export industries for the contemporary economy.”
Both refined and noble, the pivoting circular forms of each mirror are, according to Hunting and Narud, “inspired by the visual language and movement of the different elements of the solar system.” Copper Mirror Series is Hunting & Narud’s first project with Gallery Libby Sellers.
