The gradient pattern on the covering of the new Coat chair is a sophisticated play with shadow and optical illusion. The chair seems to grow out of itS base and the changing color underlines that the backrest is widening up towards the top.
The idea of the pattern comes from the hosiery industry, from the non-slip soles used for children´s socks. Prints that are functional and decorative at the same time. the pattern, in transparent silicone, does not add colour but instead tones down the fabric and merges with it like the effect of water. The upholstery, a soft and supple removable cover, wraps around and dresses the seat, a simple trick which maintains the design coherence intact.
