'Big Bird' by Tom Foulsham

The British artist and designer Tom Foulsham produces beautiful kinetic installations, ‘Big Bird’, recently presented at the Shoreditch Ball charity auction, is his newest one. The balancing metal frame has a movable arm for a reading lamp on one side and a book shelf on the other. The height and angle of the light can be changed by rearranging the books on the shelf.

“Replace the books you take from the shelf with something of similar weight or the fragile balance will be destroyed.
If you want to take a large epic from the shelf you may have to replace it with three or four novelettes. Moby Dick can be replaced with Catcher In the Rye, In Cold Blood, Breakfast of Champions and maybe even the Marzipan Pig”, Tom Foulsham explains.
