London-based studio PearsonLloyd will be unveiling a new exhibition at Great Western Studios, London, a key highlight of which will be the unveiling of a collection of street furniture for the historic city of Bath in the UK. A range that includes benches, cycle stands, wastebins, bollards, street-trading units and water fountains.
Combined with a new wayfinding system, the street furniture will see the City of Bath entering a new phase in its development as part of a wide ranging scheme to improve the public realm.
“The project’s key challenge was to develop designs with an aesthetic that would allow Bath, which is the only entire city in England designated as a World Heritage Site, to express itself as a contemporary city while remaining in harmony with its extraordinary, picturesque heritage.” says PearsonLloyd. “The emphasis was placed on pure geometry to connect Bath’s famous Georgian architecture with the everyday needs of the city’s citizens and visitors.”
’1:1 Inside Design with PearsonLloyd’ will be shown at Great Western Studios, London from September 13 to 23, 2013. The exhibition will explore its recent work, design processes and the ongoing themes which drive their thinking.
