Down-lighter by Ellen Thomas
This pendant light utilizes the function of a pressed glass lens (used in the railway industry) in a domestic manner by focusing the light to create an unusual down-lighter.
The designer Ellen Thomas is based in Newcastle, therefore the project takes inspiration from a variety of task lighting and Newcastle’s strong shipbuilding heritage. The materials glass, aluminum and walnut are associated with shipbuilding and are both luxurious and industrial.
