Architect Henning Larsen, who has died at the age of 87

The renowned Danish architect Henning Larsen has died at the age of 87.

 

Founded in 1959, his practice, Henning Larsen Architects, has delivered some of Scandinavia’s most celebrated projects, including the Harpa Concert & Conference Centre in Reykjavik, completed in 2011 and winner of the 2013 Mies van der Rohe Award, and the Uppsala Concert & Congress Hall, which opened in 2004.

For the redevelopment of the ‘Zentralplatz’, the central square of Koblenz, Germany, architects Benthem Crouwel designed the Kulturbau Forum Confluentes, which houses the public library, the Mittelrhein Museum and the tourist information for Koblenz as well as Forum Mittelrhein, a retail mall.
