Copenhagen-based design studio OeO have realised this Bauhaus-referencing seating collection for the Shanghai-based furniture brand Stellar Collections. Developed in natural oak, leather and fabric, the ‘SW’ collection comprises two upholstered, softly-hued designs; a sofa and a daybed. (more…)

‘Stammtisch’ table by Alfredo Häberli for Quodes

Zürich-based designer Alfredo Häberli has collaborated with Dutch furniture company Quodes on this pared-down, solid wood dining table design. Featuring a contrasting, oversized metal joinery which also forms a part of table’s base, ’Stammtisch’ is made of natural oak and the design has just been named as one of the winners of the Interior Innovation Award 2013. Stone Gate by Raffaello Galiotto for Lithos Design

Conceived by Italian designer Raffaello Galiotto and developed by natural stone specialists Lithos Design, ‘Stone Gate’ is an imposing, 3.80-metre-high, self-supporting marble structure inspired by ‘the ancient architectural figure of the arch consisting of elements laid dry, inherited from the Roman Empire.’ Weighting nearly 30 thousands kilograms, the colossal circle was unveiled earlier this year at the ’100% Gravity’ exhibition in Verona. The latest as well as the last of the 12 designs from Nikari’s year-long project DESIGNS FOR NATURE, which brought together some of world’s most renowned designers or design studios, who, each month, created a wooden product, this pared-down, minimalist chair was developed in a collaborative process between the famed English product and furniture designer Jasper Morrison and Tokyo-based Wataru Kumano. Made of ash and natural wood oil mixture, here’s what the creators of ‘DECEMBER’ say about its design: ‘”We talked about the pleasure in making things and the idea of a chair that could be bought in a box and built at home. Considering Nikari’s skill in wood work, we worked up the idea of a chair which could be made by following easy instructions…’ (more…)
