’330′ chair by Läufer + Keichel for Thonet

The Berlin-based practice Läufer + Keichel have teamed up with Thonet and the result of this collaboration, the ’330′ chair will be officially launched during the upcoming edition of the Orgatec fair which will take place next week (23 – 27.10) in Cologne. Inspired by ‘the ambience of artists’ studios, theatre stages and literary cafés’, the chair is part of the ’330′ product family which also includes a table and armchair designs. (more…)

Named after Greek mythological goddesses, ’Akté, Augé, Nymphé’ is a three-piece collection of freestanding mirrors developed by the Parisian-based designer Samuel Accoceberry. Manufactured by the young French furniture brand Marcel By, the striking, multifaceted pieces can be used horizontally or vertically and come in three different sizes and finishes such as gold, bronze and black. ‘Panna Cotta’ table by Ron Gilad for Molteni & C

As part of his graphical, minimalist Grado° collection, the internationally acclaimed Tel Aviv-born New York-based designer Ron Gilad has realised this circular side table for the Italian manufacturer Molteni & C. Named after the famous Italian dessert, ‘Panna Cotta’ is composed of only few parts which were developed in two materials – iron and marble – and the table is available in three colours: white, red and black. ’190′ chair by Lievore Altherr Molina for Thonet

The Barcelona-based design studio Lievore Altherr Molina have recently collaborated with the acclaimed German furniture brand Thonet on this collection of upholstered chairs called ’190′. The series, which is accompanied by a similarly simple, no-frills ’1190′ table, is available in either oiled oak or walnut, with or without armrests and with leather or textile cover. (more…)

‘Station’ table/lamp by Angell Wyller Aarseth

Three young Norwegian designers and university friends: Simen Aarseth, Christoffer Angell and Øyvind Wyller have developed this minimalist, uniformly-black table-cum-lamp called ‘Station.’ As a modular system, ‘Station’ can be adjusted to be used at different heights – as a coffee table or a working desk which is individually illuminated by a conveniently-located light source. ‘Republica’ chair by Patrick Norguet for Drucker

The Parisian product designer Patrick Norguet has realised the ‘Republica’ chair for the manufacturer of classic French bistro furniture Drucker. Speaking of this collaboration and his recent design Norguet says: ‘Republica is above all the desire to seek out our history, several years ago I discovered the firm Drucker and its history. I wanted to take the time to think about a chair which would be in line without much “fanfare.” ‘ (more…)

 

The main exhibition of 23rd Biennial of Design has been conceived by the renowned curators Margo Konings and Margriet Vollenberg (Organisation in Design). The selection of works from 27 countries shows how modern technologies, digitalisation and globalisation, as well as nature and its resources influence designers and their creative work.

‘Doll’ table lamp by Ionna Vautrin for Foscarini

Continuing her collaboration with Italian lighting specialists Foscarini, the acclaimed Parisian-based designer Ionna Vautrin has once again turned her attention to the Far East and the Orient for inspiration. Her new, well-proportioned and organically shaped (as has become Vautrin’s signature) table lamp ‘Doll’ has just been unveiled by the Marcon-based brand and it appears to be a natural continuation of Vautrin’s previous, also Orient-inspired pendant light, ‘Chouchin’. Composed of a round, blown glass head and a circular plastic base, ‘Doll’ emanates a warm, soft glow and the lamp is available in four colour versions: ivory, green, grey and red. (more…)
