A Parisian architectural practice Atelier Christian de Portzamparc, led by the Pritzker Prize-winning Christian de Portzamparc, have realised this dynamic, concrete-clad winery located in the historical southwestern French commune of Saint-Émilion. A new home to the producer of one of the region’s finest wines, Château Cheval Blanc, the 5250-square-meters building blends seamlessly with its hilly surroundings and boasts 52 concrete vats, a wine barrel cellar, a tasting room, several workshops and office spaces as well as a beautifully lit, adjacent terraced garden. ‘Luc’ chair by Lorenz*Kaz for Rossin

Lorenz*Kaz, a design studio led by a duo of German-born Milan-based designers Catharina Lorenz and Steffen Kaz have realised this minimalist, softly curved chair for the Italian furniture manufacturer Rossin. Composed of a polyurethane shell which is supported by either four simple wooden legs or a thin metal base, the generously-proportioned ‘Luc’ is available in multiple colourways. (more…)

Taking her inspiration form an old workbench commonly used in wood workshops, the young Norwegian designer Caroline Olsson has realised this pair of delicate, pared-down table lamps. Featuring a characteristic swivel screw tightening mechanism which in fact serves as a dimmer, similarly to Olsson’s ‘Skog‘ series,’Turn’ is also made of mouth blown glass and untreated wood but this time around, the designer decided to use birch instead of oak wood. Hofman Dujardin Architecten, an Amsterdam-based architectural practice run by Barbara Dujardin and Michiel Hofman have collaborated with Fokkema & Partners Architecten on the interior design of the recently completed new headquarters for a sustainable energy company Eneco. Located in Rotterdam, the 14-storey 25,000-square-meters building itself was designed by Dam & Partners Architecten and features a light-reflective façade incorporating planted tufts of greenery which frame windows on the lower levels of the building.

‘Nordica’ chair by Marco Ferreri for Billiani

An Italian, family-run furniture brand Billiani has recently released this simple, solid wood chair designed by architect and designer Marco Ferreri. A modern, pared-down reinterpretation of the classic tub chair, ‘Nordica’ features curved, semi-circle backrest whose fluid form is juxtaposed with the straight lines of its seat and base. The design has been developed in beech wood and is available in variety of finishes and with an optional upholstery. (more…)

This multi-faceted, two-storey detached residence has been competed by an Israeli Sharon Neuman Architects practice. Developed on a long and narrow 800-square-meters plot, the 215-square-meters house has been designed with energy efficiency in mind and incorporates a number of environment-friendly solutions such as: efficient insulating materials, rainwater and dew collection and storage units, water recycling system, and a solar water heater. German designer Eric Degenhardt has realised this small, foldable table for the Stuttgart-based furniture brand Richard Lampert. Intended for both indoor and outdoor use, the design is made of powder-coated steel and it can be easily folded and stored away thanks to an elongated loop which stretches from the base. ‘Hook’ is available in four different colours: white, blue, grey and yellow. Japanese architectural practice APOLLO Architects & Associates have realised this single family two-storey house located on Mount Kamakura, Kanagawa prefecture. Featuring a striking, pentagonal roof and floor-to-ceiling windows boasting panoramic views of Sagami Bay, the 180-square-meters residence was completed in December 2011. (more…)
