A clever and relatively less space-demanding alternative to traditional bookshelves and cabinets, this neat book hanger has been devised by a Copenhagen-based furniture designer Jakob Jørgensen. Composed of a plain wooden mounting and a number of ‘sticks’ which can also double as bookmarks, ‘Poet’s Book Hanger’ was developed for Danish Crafts‘ MINDCRAFT12 exhibition which was organised on the occasion of Milan’s Salone del Mobile 2012 fair and showcased 16 new works by 12 contemporary Danish artists and designers. Braga’s House by Atelier Nuno Lacerda Lopes; photo by Nelson Garrido

This angular, white concrete-clad detached house has been developed by an interdisciplinary Atelier Nuno Lacerda Lopes. Specialising not only in architecture, but also in engineering, stage design, design, urban planning, landscape architecture, media and editing, the Portuguese practice have based the project on ‘an idea of a concrete box with a strong geometric complexity’. Composed of three floors, one of which serves as a parking space, the single family residence is located in the northwestern Portuguese city of Braga and it was completed in 2011. (more…)

‘Rocking Stool’ by Svenja Diekmann

Unveiled earlier in April as part of a joint exhibition ’2×10′ at Milan’s Ventura Lambrate, this upholstered rocking stool was created by a young German designer Svenja Diekmann. Composed of a simple, metal wire frame and a recycled cotton knitted seat, ‘Rocking Stool’ is available in two sizes and variety of colours. (more…)
